Brilliant minds at work! With the 5th graders look comfy and relaxed, their brains are hard at work taking their math state assessments.

The first graders became doctors today! Surgeons to be more exact. All week they have been learning about contractions so today they gowned up, then cut apart and stitched words back together with apostrophes. Thankfully all of the “patients” were saved.

The weather might be too windy to read outside. However, Miss Rohleder’s class knows how to relax while enjoying a good book.

K-6 lunch menu is changed for Friday and Monday Friday: Cheese pizza, bread stick, vegetables, fruit Monday: Chicken nuggets, scalloped potatoes, broccoli, tomatoes, peaches, roll

Congratulations to fourth grader, Charly Amrein, for earning Honorable Mention in the Hays Arts Writing Contest for her story titled “The Child’s Quest.”

Washington Grade School students, teachers, and staff celebrated Music In Our Schools Month during the month of March with a little Music Madness. Brackets were filled out and votes were cast to decide the winning song. Jaxin Howland, 6th grade, and Jaxon Henman, 3rd grade were the winners of the music genre bracket challenge.

KA has been improving throughout the year on their daily writing. Each student submitted a prose and a poetry piece for the Hays Arts Council Creative Writing. Mrs. Befort was so proud of the creativity and imagination they put into their work!

The new USD 388 Weight Room lock is in and working.

Welcome to the 100 Point AR Club!!! Great work!!!

This year’s fourth graders have been writing with pen pals, who are some of the senior members of the community. Today, the fourth graders walked to Dollar General to purchase cards for their pen pals for their final letter of the year.

These amazing 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students learned how to keep score and time for scholar’s bowl so that they could help at the junior high league tournament. They all did amazing!

A message from Superintendent Corey Burton.

Today the combined WGS and St. Mary's 5th grade band had the opportunity to rehearse on sound projection... aka, playing louder! They worked hard, despite the crazy wind!
