Congratulations to these 5th graders who competed in the school wide Famous Figures competition today!


Mrs. Befort’s kindergarten students decorated umbrellas and displayed them in the hall at WGS. We were hoping for some “magical” rain to follow. Our wish came true on Friday evening!




The 4th-6th graders celebrated Earth Day with some fun activities! They watched a video on how to care for Earth, and the history of Earth Day. Then they completed an online escape room, word search and coloring page. 🌎🌍🌏

Thanks to the Hays Arts Council, the 4th, 5th, & 6th grade students were able to travel to the FHSU campus in Hays. There, they watched The Queen’s Cartoonists. This was a group of 6 talented musicians who played music along with the cartoons. It was a wonderful experience!



These 2nd graders are working hard and learning all about fractions!





First graders are reading a story about kites this week, so we’re taking advantage of the wind!




These sweet little workers aren’t letting the end of the year slow them down. They keep setting and reaching goal after goal!!Congratulations on 150, 200, and 300 AR Points!!!

Congratulations to these two second graders for having their creative writing skills recognized through the Hays Arts Council Creative Writing Contest!!!


Kindergarteners took their field trip on Thursday to Walmart, Popt! Gourmet Popcorn, McDonald’s and the Arc Park.





2nd grade is working hard and having fun with their multiplication facts.





Dental Screenings, provided by First Care Clinic, will be held on April 20th, 2022, for Washington Grade School and Ellis Junior/Senior High School students. This is the makeup date from the March 10th, 2022, snow day.

Sixth graders put their knowledge about Newton’s Laws of Motion to use! They designed and built cars powered by a balloon. Our goal was for the car to travel at least 3 feet. Many achieved that goal and beyond! Shout out to Haylee and Libby!! Their car traveled 30 feet! Amazing!





Fourth graders were challenged by Mrs. Burd to build a 3-story building that could withstand a 15 second earthquake. They did so well!

Math is like going to the gym for your brain. It sharpens your mind!
The 6th graders are working out their brains while they take math state assessments this week.
Also, thank you to PTO for purchasing new headphones for the classroom!





Third graders, Cade and Graeme, presented our coding program at Monday’s board meeting. They even got a few of them to do some coding with them.
