It's School Librarian Appreciation Day! Ellis Jr./Sr. High School is proud to recognize an outstanding educator and district librarian: Mrs. Shelly Hensley! We are thrilled to have her experience, knowledge, and expertise as part of our school community. Mrs. Hensley has a busy schedule, teaching 7th-grade history while also serving as our full-time district librarian, traveling between three schools each day. Not a day goes by without Mrs. Hensley bringing a smile with her. She is optimistic, enthusiastic, and, above all, kind to everyone. She has served the Ellis community and schools for many years, and her commitment and dedication to our students and the families of Ellis make us proud!
In addition to her teaching and librarian roles, she has coached volleyball and sponsored many organizations in the past. Mrs. Hensley has always been a strong supporter of our Railroader athletics, especially following her son, Dalton, and her daughter, Bailey, throughout their high school years. We truly appreciate her commitment both inside and outside the classroom. As a librarian, Mrs. Hensley is a friend and trusted resource to both students and faculty. She is always willing to roll up her sleeves to help where needed or to offer an encouraging word. We are inspired by how many students feel comfortable asking for book suggestions and by the numerous comments about her kindness. Mrs. Hensley knows what the kids enjoy and does her best to maintain a great selection of books. Reading is essential, and having her at the helm of our library is wonderful for our schools.
Fun facts about Mrs. Hensley include her love for the outdoors. She enjoys hunting, fishing, and walking. She is also a proud grandmother to three beautiful granddaughters, and her son is getting married this fall. A bonus? She's a fan of 80s rock — you have to love an 80s girl! We are incredibly fortunate to have such a dedicated librarian and teacher like Mrs. Hensley. She makes a difference every day and is valued in our community and at our school. We are honored to celebrate her contributions as part of our Railroader family. Thank you, Mrs. Hensley!
