Our Railroader Forensics team is headed to State! We will have a State Send-off tomorrow (Friday, May 1st) at 2:45 PM to wish them luck. Come out and support our Railroaders as they participate in the KSHSAA 1A State Speech and Drama Competition at McPherson High School on Saturday, May 2nd. The first round will begin at 8:00 AM. We want to inform everyone about important end-of-year dates and awards. The Ellis High School Awards Assembly will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. in the Ellis Jr./Sr. High School Auditorium. Parents and families are welcome to attend! Awards will be presented to high school students for achievements in community service, clubs, and various activities.
Important Reminders:
• EHS Graduation is Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 2:00 PM. Congratulations to our seniors! On Tuesday, May 5, seniors will take finals during 1st-3rd hours. On Wednesday, May 6, seniors will take finals during 4th-7th hours.
• On Tuesday, May 12, students in grades 9–11 will attend all of their classes, but will take finals during 1st–3rd hours.
• On Wednesday, May 13, students in grades 9–11 will take finals for 4th–7th hours. Following finals, students will check in their laptops and clean out their lockers.
• The Last Day of School is Wednesday, May 13, with a 3:24 PM dismissal!
• Please remember to bring all books and your laptop/charger! All outstanding bills must be settled before dismissal, including those for lunch, woodworking projects, and computer repairs. Please check PowerSchool for any outstanding balances.

Ellis Junior High School's Track and Field team is making the short trip to Trego today to participate in the Dave Schneider Invitational Track Meet. This event is named in honor of a long-time substitute teacher who dedicated many years to both Trego and Ellis schools. It is a wonderful tribute to an outstanding individual.

The Ellis Band delivered impressive performances at the KSHSAA State Music Festival for Solos and Small Ensembles this past Saturday at Bethel College in Newton. Tayler Schmidt earned a II rating for her bass clarinet solo, while Skylynn Begler received a I rating for her clarinet solo. Additionally, the clarinet trio, consisting of Tayler Schmidt, Skylynn Begler, and Kinzie Sunley, also achieved a I rating.

The Railroader Baseball and Softball teams are on their way to Pratt today! They will be facing the Pratt-Skyline Thunderbirds in a doubleheader starting at 4:00 PM. The Lady Railers will play at the Green Sports Complex, located at 2007 E 6th St, Pratt. This past Friday, the Ellis Track and Field team traveled to Osborne. The girls' team finished in 2nd place, while the boys' team finished in 5th. A lot of metals were collected by the team, with 1st place going to Avery Boydston in the 800, 1600, and 3200. Sienna Schmidt in the LJ. Haylee Comer in the Jav. She also placed 3rd in the Shot. Evelyn Merriman came home with two gold medals in the 100 and 200. Tracyn Bollig in the PV.
The girls' 4 x 100 finished 1st (Mackinley, Evelyn, Sienna, and Peyton). 2nd-place medals went to Mackinley in the 200, Trenton in the Javelin, Piper in the PV, Taryn in the 3200, and the boys' 4x800 team (Taylon, Cody, Brayden, and Wyatt). 3rd Place went to Piper in the 200m, Kooper in the PV, Piper in the 200, Mackinley in the 100, Cayson in the 3200, and the boys' 4x100 team (Carson, Trenton, Jacob, and Jack). 4th Place went to Carson in the Javelin and Dora in the Discus. 5th Place went to Dom in the shot, Wyatt in the 800, and Hannah in the shot. It's prom season and Ellis Jr./Sr. High School was bustling today! Prom decorating was in full swing today instead of Friday due to a school in-service day. The junior class was fortunate to have Ellie, our school dog, overseeing the decorating. Don’t forget to join us for the promenade on Saturday, April 25th, at 6:30 PM. Our students are sure to look fantastic!
