Ellis Jr./Sr. High School is proud to recognize an outstanding educator: Mrs. Nicole Carroll! We are thrilled to have her experience, knowledge, and expertise as part of our school community. Mrs. Carroll has a busy schedule, teaching the Career and Financial Planning class to seniors while also serving as our full-time counselor for grades 7-12. Each day, she brings positivity, creativity, and empathy to our school environment. In addition to her teaching and counseling roles, Mrs. Carroll is the advisor for KAY (Kansas Association for Youth), which provides numerous leadership and learning opportunities for our students. KAY also organizes events like Snowball and various community service projects throughout the year. Furthermore, she has coached in the past and enjoys watching her sons and husband play golf. You can often find her helping out at sporting events, whether running the clock or keeping score. We truly appreciate her commitment both inside and outside the classroom. As a counselor, Mrs. Carroll is a friend to all—students and faculty alike. She is always willing to lend a hand to colleagues and students, and her door is always open. Those who enter are greeted with a smile and a “How can I help?” attitude. She serves as a lifelong support system for our seniors, assisting with graduation and scholarship applications. Many students have expressed how much she genuinely cares about their well-being and success, and this sentiment resonates throughout our school. Mrs. Carroll makes a difference every day. Another fun fact about Mrs. Carroll is that her family runs The Frozen Frog, a snow cone business that operates during the summer. She is also a fan of Bon Jovi and has even attended one of their concerts. She truly embodies the spirit of an '80s girl at heart! We are incredibly fortunate to have such a dedicated counselor and teacher like Mrs. Carroll. She is valued in our community and at our school, and we are honored to celebrate her contributions as part of our Railroader family. Thank you, Mrs. Carroll!

This week, the EHS Journalism staff is distributing "You’re in the Book" flyers to all students at Ellis Jr./Sr. High School who have not yet purchased a 2024-25 Railroader Yearbook.  The cost of a yearbook is $50. The EHS Journalism team works hard each year to create this memorable publication. This is the second year that the Railroader Yearbook will include grades 7-12, featuring pictures and memories from both high school and junior high. Without the generosity of our students' families, it would be difficult to fund the yearbook, and this valuable tradition could come to an end. Sales are crucial for supporting this publication and maintaining this important class within our schools. Your purchase helps keep the yearbook alive for years to come. With the rise of online photos and social media, students and parents often overlook the value of a physical yearbook. Ensure your memories last a lifetime—purchase your Railroader Yearbook today! Students who buy a yearbook will be invited to the “Signing Celebration” at the beginning of the school year, where they can sign each other’s yearbooks, reviving a cherished tradition. The link to purchase a yearbook online can be found here: https://www.jostens.com/apps/store/customer/1070972/Ellis-High-School. If you have any questions or want to confirm whether you have already purchased a yearbook, please contact the school office at 785-726-3151. Thank you for supporting our work - Ellis High School Journalism!
