It’s School Nurse Appreciation Day! Ellis USD 388 is proud to recognize our outstanding nurse, Mrs. Jaymi Gabel! We are thrilled to have her experience, knowledge, and expertise as part of our school community. Mrs. Gabel serves USD 388 as the PK-12 school nurse and has a busy schedule attending to a total of 325 students, as well as faculty, staff, and coaches across two different buildings. Her extensive experience in schools, hospitals, and clinic settings makes her a wonderful asset to our school. Those of us who work with her daily appreciate her wisdom and calm demeanor. She is truly the person you want in an emergency! In addition to her nursing duties, Mrs. Gabel also serves as an assistant high school volleyball coach. Her wealth of experience and guidance greatly benefit the program, as she was a college volleyball athlete herself at Dodge City Community College. We value her commitment both in and out of school. Her rapport with students, faculty, and staff makes her an exceptional addition to our school. We have been inspired by comments from staff members expressing that she brings thorough and practical advice to our school. Students feel comfortable approaching her for help when she visits each building. Fun facts about Mrs. Gabel include that she is a graduate of Ellis High School and loves being back in Ellis to raise her family. Her family has deep roots in this community, and she is invested in the success of Ellis schools. She has two daughters, and she and her husband, Nick, live just north of Ellis on a small farm where they raise cows and chickens. Yes, she does live on the Funny Farm! We are incredibly fortunate to have such a dedicated nurse like Mrs. Gabel. She is valued in our community and at our school, and we are honored to celebrate her contributions as part of our Railroader family. Thank you, Mrs. Gabel!
