Maria Mick is a true asset to the Ellis High School/Junior High. She is the heart of our school as everyone/everything seems to go through her in one aspect or another. Maria knows the students and their parents by name and is genuinely caring toward all. Maria performs a variety of daily duties as the administrative secretary. She fields hundreds of phone calls a week serving as a key communicator interacting with students, parents, teachers and administration. She tracks attendance records, mails/emails necessary school forms and notifications, and manages many of the school activities. She keeps everyone informed with the many social media posts that serve as reminders to us all. She maintains student records, welcomes school visitors, and handles any day-to-day clerical needs required. Sometimes, she even serves as the school nurse. These are just a few of her many duties. Maria does it all with a smile. Through the many interruptions in a day, Maria maintains a professional and friendly demeanor. She possesses excellent organizational skills and manages her time efficiently. Maria has gone above and beyond this year adding the “Teacher Tuesday” highlights on social media. She spends countless hours making others feel appreciated. We are not sure how our school would function without her! Maria, you are the best!

Ellis Jr./Sr. High School proudly recognizes Mr. Steve Herrman, our Technology Director. We are thrilled to have his experience, knowledge, and expertise as part of our school community. For the past 16 years, he has been dedicated to serving the Ellis community, its students, and their families. Mr. Herrman plays a crucial role in keeping our district running smoothly. Thanks to him, every teacher is equipped with their own laptop. All K-6 students have access to iPads, while students in grades 7-12 receive laptops for use throughout the school year. Plus, we have access to all the important computer programs needed for journalism, multimedia, drafting, etc.! We are truly fortunate to have such a forward-thinking Technology Director! We are inspired by the numerous positive comments from students about the assistance Mr. Herrman provides, as well as his friendly humor, even if his jokes are a bit cheesy. Fun facts about Mr. Herrman include his love for motorcycles and golf, and he is a true '80s man, with Huey Lewis and the News as his favorite band. We are incredibly grateful to have Mr. Herrman as our Technology Director. He makes a difference every day and is highly valued by our community and school. We are honored to celebrate his contributions as part of our Railroader family. Thank you, Mr. Steve Herrman!
