Each year, our seniors have the opportunity to attend a Rotary event. Our first group of seniors enjoyed a wonderful lunch and program last week. Patricia Es Quainoo and Mavis Amponsem, both from Ghana, Africa, presented an engaging program about their country. These young ladies are graduate students at Fort Hays State University. Thank you, Ellis Rotary!

2nd round of pictures from Role Model Appreciation today.

Our second round of seniors honored their role models this morning and did a great job.

Ellis Jr./Sr. High School is proud to recognize an outstanding educator and our 7-12 Athletic Director, Mr. Derek Schoenthaler! We are thrilled to have his experience, knowledge, and expertise as part of our school community. Mr. Schoenthaler maintains a busy schedule, teaching junior high physical education while also serving full-time as our 7-12 Athletic Director, a role that requires many evenings and weekends. He is passionate about athletics and the leadership qualities it fosters in our youth. Mr. Schoenthaler always emphasizes the teamwork and sense of community that both athletics and extracurricular activities bring to Ellis schools.
For the past five years, he has been dedicated to serving the Ellis community and its students and families. In addition to his teaching and athletic director roles, he has coached football and various youth sports in the community, including club volleyball and federated wrestling. Mr. Schoenthaler is a strong supporter of our Railroader athletics and looks forward to cheering on his children as they enter junior high and high school. We truly appreciate his commitment both inside and outside the classroom. As the athletic director, Mr. Schoenthaler is a respected resource for both students and coaches. We are inspired by the number of students who feel his support and encouragement. He also ensures that athletes are recognized for their achievements and college signings.
Fun facts about Mr. Schoenthaler include his love for golf and being a proud father of three, with one of his children in his class this year. Another interesting tidbit? He is a fan of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers! We are incredibly fortunate to have such a dedicated athletic director and educator like Mr. Schoenthaler. He makes a difference daily and is highly valued in our community and school. We are honored to celebrate his contributions as part of our Railroader family. Thank you, Mr. Schoenthaler!
