Ellis Jr./Sr. High School is proud to recognize an outstanding educator, Mr. Perry Mick! We are thrilled to have his extensive experience, knowledge, and expertise as a vital part of our school community. Mr. Mick maintains a busy schedule teaching Algebra II, College Algebra, Calculus, and Physics. For the past 34 years, he has been dedicated to serving the Ellis community, its students, and their families. In addition to teaching, Mr. Mick was the high school girls’ basketball coach for 18 years, during which he enjoyed significant success, including three trips to state, a second-place finish, and three MCL tournament titles. It is inspiring to hear from so many students and even alumni that Mr. Mick is and was their favorite teacher. They often express how much he knows about the subjects he teaches and how genuinely he cares about their learning and success. Mr. Mick truly embodies the essence of what it means to be a teacher. We sincerely appreciate his commitment both inside and outside the classroom. Fun facts about Mr. Mick include his love for biking, music, and reading. His wife and better half, Maria, serves as the 7-12 secretary. We are incredibly fortunate to have such a dedicated educator in our community. Mr. Mick makes a difference every day, and he is highly valued in our school. We are honored to celebrate his contributions as part of our Railroader family. Thank you, Mr. Perry Mick!

Maria Mick is a true asset to the Ellis High School/Junior High. She is the heart of our school as everyone/everything seems to go through her in one aspect or another. Maria knows the students and their parents by name and is genuinely caring toward all. Maria performs a variety of daily duties as the administrative secretary. She fields hundreds of phone calls a week serving as a key communicator interacting with students, parents, teachers and administration. She tracks attendance records, mails/emails necessary school forms and notifications, and manages many of the school activities. She keeps everyone informed with the many social media posts that serve as reminders to us all. She maintains student records, welcomes school visitors, and handles any day-to-day clerical needs required. Sometimes, she even serves as the school nurse. These are just a few of her many duties. Maria does it all with a smile. Through the many interruptions in a day, Maria maintains a professional and friendly demeanor. She possesses excellent organizational skills and manages her time efficiently. Maria has gone above and beyond this year adding the “Teacher Tuesday” highlights on social media. She spends countless hours making others feel appreciated. We are not sure how our school would function without her! Maria, you are the best!
