Just a reminder that senior banner pictures are being taken today until 12! All seniors in any activity and sport can get a banner made of them to be hung in the gym.
7th Grade Orientation Night!
Tonight's soccer practice has been moved to the Old Hays High building on 13th Street from 4-5:30pm. The scheduled parent meeting will go on as planned.
Practice for the High School Football team for today at 3:30pm will now be held inside the high school library. We will be having chalk talk( Playbook study) and walk throughs inside.

Seniors are enjoying painting their parking spots!
All 7th graders and their parents are invited to 7th Grade Orientation tonight, Monday, August 21st at 7:00pm. We will start in the auditorium.
EJH Volleyball orders that were placed before midnight on August 15th will be delivered to girls at practice tomorrow (Monday the 21st). This will also include the players team shirts. Please note that the store is still open until August 25th for orders, these will just not be guaranteed for the first game on the 28th.

With this week's forecasted temperatures, please be aware that modifications to practice schedules are likely. Safety policy from our activities' association has the potential to cause necessary modifications or cancellations of outdoor activity practices based on weather conditions. These modifications can include: increasing breaks to find shade and hydrate, shortening practice times, removing equipment for practice and/or conditioning, or the cancellation of outdoor practice altogether.
Please know that we will be working with our coaching staffs to communicate plans of changes if/when they occur.

The 2023 JH/HS XC team will compete in their annual "Fun Run" this Thursday at 5:00. The race will begin and end at the track for the high school athletes. The junior high runners will begin at HS and end at track. Please join us to show your support of the team this Thursday.
JH KAYs is hosting a back to school night for all EJH 7th and 8th grade students on Tuesday, August 22th @ 7:00 at the Ellis campgrounds. Come meet with other JH students, eat smores, and play games to kick off the 2023-2024 school year.

Every two years, Kansas High Schools that have fewer than 100 students in grades 9-11, are asked to submit to the Kansas State High Activities Association (KSHSAA), a request to participate in either 8-person or 11-person football. As a school that has fewer than 100 students in those 3 grades, we need to submit our request to KSHSAA this fall, which will dictate the style of football we will play for at least the next two years. Many factors are used to aid in this decision, including, but not limited to, the following:
• Student enrollment trends
• Average number of students participating in football
• Travel requirements
• Student Safety
• Competitiveness
• Alignment between middle school and high school
• The ability to field both varsity of sub-varsity teams
As we work with our board, administration, football staff, and students to determine our best course of action for the next football cycle, we would also like to get some feedback from our community to assist in our decision making. If current fall participants were unable to attend today's NFHS Concussion for Students training required by the KSHSAA, we will be offering another training course at 10:00am on Thursday. Any student who has yet to complete the course and will be unable to make Thursday's training should email dschoenthaler@usd388.com for instructions on how to complete this requirement.
