REMINDER: July 3-9 is the KSHSAA Summer Moratorium. During this time, coaches are prohibited from engaging in any type of activity involving student athletes whether it be practice, training, weight lifting, conditioning, competition, or travel. All athletic facilities will be closed during this period to school personnel and students grades 7-12. If member school athletic facilities also serve as non-school community recreation facilities, these facilities may remain open during the moratorium so long as no school teams are playing and no school coaches are coaching the teams/ individuals. During this one-week dead period, students may attend camps or competitions but may not do so with their school coaches. This moratorium does not impact fine arts or spirit activities.

Some exciting news! These THREE of the seven grant applications our seniors worked on have been awarded! The projects were not fully funded, but three organizations will be receiving grant money for their projects. The other organizations are able (and encouraged) to apply again in the fall. Sarah Meitner, executive director of The Heartland Community Foundation, had great things to say about the quality of all of our applications! Great job, Railers! Parents, There have been daily updates on coaching hires and coaching schedules that have impacted the summer activity schedules for summer weights and practices. Currently the summer weight programs will be as follows: High School Boys (Beginning May 30th) Monday 6:30-7:30 AM and 6:30 -7:30 PM Tuesday 6:30-7:30 AM Thursday 6:30 -7:30 AM and 6:30-7:30 PM Friday 6:30 - 7:30 AM and 6:30 - 7:30 PM JH Boys (Beginning June 7th) Monday-Thursday 7:30-8:15 AM High School Girls and JR High Girls (Starting June 5th) Monday-Thursday 8:15-9:15 AM These training sessions are great opportunities to enhance strength and agility, but more importantly to build trust, team cohesiveness and pride. These programs are available to students involved in any extra curricular sports and activities at the appropriate gender/grade level. Team practice and league information will be released as it becomes available. Thank you for your patience and flexibility.

Update for the JH weight schedule June 6-8! Coach Werth and I have some conflicting schedules. Weights and skills will still start at the same time, but as I have a teaching job in Hays at 9 and Coach Werth will be out of town this week, we will end early at 8:30 for this week only! Thank you all for understanding! We will resume the original schedule the following weeks after. -Coach Crawford

EJH SUMMER WEIGHTS & VOLLEYBALL GIRLS: We cannot wait to get back in the gym and weight room! We got final word that Junior High weights will begin at 8:15am and finish at 9. Us coaches will head over to the gym following our skills (Tuesdays and Thursdays) at the high school. Players/students are welcome to come with us, the program will just not begin til 8:15! Attached below is the summer schedule for Ellis Junior High Volleyball! Anyone interested is welcome to join us this summer and get a feel for being back on the court! For our skills, we will work on fundamentals and simply getting back into the sport! Along with skills we will be having weights! This is not mandatory (same with skills), but again is a great opportunity to further athletic performance and agilities!
