Thunderhawk Middle School Invitational (JH) DATE/TIME: Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 8:30am LEAVE TIME FROM EHS: 7:40am LOCATION: Wheatland High School 2920 K-23, Grainfield, KS 67737 Grinnell Middle School 402 Monroe St, Grinnell, KS 67738 The tournament will consist of two pools with the top two teams from each pool playing in the championship bracket and the 3rd and 4th place teams from each pool playing in the consolation bracket. The championship bracket will be played at Wheatland and the consolation bracket will be played at Grinnell. Wheatland H.S. (Pool A) 8:30am Trego vs. Hoxie Colby 8A vs. Ellis Ellis vs. Trego Colby 8A vs. Hoxie Hoxie vs. Ellis Trego vs. Colby 8A The first team listed will be the Home Team and is responsible for keeping the official scorebook. In addition, each team is asked to supply one line judge for your games. ADMISSIONS: $4 for adults and $3 for students. No league passes will be accepted.

The EHS Lady Railers traveled to Colby and walked off the court with 2 more wins! Beating Heartland Christian 25-10 & 25-8, then finished the night with a thriller beating Northern Valley 25-11 & 27-25! Way to never give up and play as a team! Saturday we head to Kiowa! 🚂🧡🏐🖤

The EHS Lady Railers traveled to Colby and walked off the court with 2 more wins! Beating Heartland Christian 25-10 & 25-8, then finished the night with a thriller beating Northern Valley 25-11 & 27-25! Way to never give up and play as a team! Saturday we head to Kiowa! 🚂🧡🏐🖤

What a great night for our XC runners as they traveled to Larned. After a strong week of practice the effort showed tonight with their effort and success. Avery, Taryn, and Cayson Boydston along with Jocelyn Eck all came home with 1st place medals. Maggie Fitzgerald finished 7th as a JV runner. Great work Railers!! I am so proud of your hard work and competitiveness!!

JV Scores: JV came out strong with a great win after two matches against Trego. First set 24-14 Second set 27-25 Varsity fought hard through last minute line up changes due to sickness, and took Trego to 3 sets but we're unable to come away with the win. First set:26-28 Second set: 26-24 Third set: 8-15 We're ready to work hard this weekend at our tournament at Wheatland. We would love for you to come out and support!

We are needing two more convertibles for our Homecoming candidates! We have two so far for the parade, but the other usual suspects can’t help out that day! If you have a convertible & would be able to drive in the parade on October 6th, please contact Mrs. Downing at the high school!

The sophomores finished Act V of Macbeth this week, so it’s time to say goodbye to Flat Shakespeare! I think he enjoyed his time in Ellis, KS!

Kaydawn Haag hit 500 career kills tonight in Phillipsburg! Kaydawn entered the night only needing 3 kills to reach 500. She got number 500 off a swing between 2 blockers in the match against Phillipsburg! Congratulations Kaydawn! We are proud of our #21! 🚂🏐🧡🖤🧡

Great job to the EHS Railers tonight in Phillipsburg. JV went 1-1, dropping to the Panthers 22-25 & 18-25, but bounced back with a win over the Ringnecks, 25-13 & 25-15. JV's record is 11-5 Varsity struggled against P-burg after an injury took out Brooke, but they kept working and won in 3! 19-25, 25-23, & 25-21. Finished the night beating Hill City 25-6 & 25-14. Great job tonight ladies! Varsity record 8-4

Ellis Jr./Sr. High School Picture Day is Monday, September 25th! ALL students (including seniors) as well as faculty/staff will have their picture taken!

Thanks to James Robben from Grow Hays for talking to our Business Essentials class about the youth entrepreneurship challenge and developing a business plan. Some of our students will be competing in the YEC at Hays in November.

EJH VOLLEYBALL RESULTS (9/18) Ellis Varsity traveled back to Plainville tonight to compete in a quad with Plainville, Ness City, and Central Plains. JV was also supposed to compete, but with continued injuries and sickness we were low on numbers and unable to play. Varsity first took on Ness City and came out with a win going 25-17 in the first set and 25-4 in the second. We then went on to play Central Plains and were unable to get a win. First set score 12-25 and second set 13-25. Finally, we finished the night against Plainville and came out on top again. Finishing the first set 25-19 and the second set 25-23. Varsity: 8-2 JV: 5-2
