This past weekend, the Railer boys all ended up at the Bob Kuhn Prairie Classic. The tournament took on a different look this year. A new format of the tournament offered all round robin brackets. There were still teams from 6A down through 1A, including teams like Bonner Springs, Manhattan, Hays, Goodland, Phillipsburg, and others. This tournament also boasted of several ranked wrestlers, including several #1 in larger classes. Korbyn Koeger (120#) finished 6th with big wins over wrestlers from Hays, Manhattan, Hugoton, and Ulysses. Carter Jimenez (126#) finished 7th with impressive wins over Russell, Goodland, and Phillipsburg. Asher Haag (138#) found the top of the podium with a perfect 8-0 weekend, beating opponents from Manhattan and other larger schools, including ranked competitors. Freshman Kooper Hankins (144#) entered the tournament wrestling the #1 6A wrestler in the state as well as other ranked opponents throughout the weekend. Jack Reed (150#) finished an impressive 4th, going 6-3 on the weekend with strong wins over opponents from Hays, Hugoton, TMP, Goodland, and Bonner Springs. The Railers are next in action at the MCL League Tournament at Trego-Wakeeney on Jan. 30.
