
EHS woodworking students started their lathe project today with Mr. Ken Eberle. We are so thankful for his knowledge and willingness to help our students learn about the wood lathe!

Community Service Day


Both JV and Varsity Volleyball traveled to Hoxie yesterday to play a Quad. Both teams went 1-2 on the night.

Varsity lost a close match against Hoxie 22-25, 23-25.
Ellis beat Oakley 25-14, 25-19.
Ellis struggled this match and lost to Trego 21-25, 19-25.

Ellis lost against Hoxie in three. 25-15, 20-25, 9-15.
Ellis beat Oakley 25-20, 22-25, 15-11.
Ellis lost to Trego 25-27 14-25.

With a win against Kiowa they will be 1st out of their pool heading into brackets!

Heading to Bracket Play

The Kiowa County Media Center will be live streaming all four courts throughout the volleyball tournament on Saturday in Greensburg. The live stream will be available on YouTube at “Kiowa County Maverick Athletics”.

The Railroader football team visited WGS this afternoon and spent time reading and building relationships with our first, second, and third grade classes. What a wonderful opportunity this was and we cannot wait to do it again.

Ellis XC JH/HS team ran at Larned. With great weather came great success with Avery Boydston placing 1st. Makenna Kohl and Ethan Carroll placed respectfully, 11th Varsity and 19th JV. Austin Carroll ran a strong time in varsity with Aiden Ashenbrenner placing 7th in his JH race.


EHS Volleyball will be playing a triangular (Northern Valley, Ellis and Heartland Christian) today (Sept. 22) at Northern Valley High School, 512 W. Bryant St. Almena KS.
