A couple of changes to the calendar. The Ellis PD will have bike/scooter safety on May 1st for all students 2nd-6th grade, bring your bike or scooter to school that day. The Field Day on May 14th will be held at the football field at 9:00 and students will be dismissed from there at 11:30.
The 4th, 5th, and 6th graders traveled to Rolling Hills Zoo for a field trip today. It was the perfect day and we made it through the zoo before the rain moved in!
The WGS PTO has declared a Penny War for our school!
BACK 2 BACK 2 BACK!!
1-2-3-4 we declare a Penny War! Start collecting loose change for a friendly Penny War competition at WGS! Students can add positive points to their class bucket and add negative points to another class (or faculty) bucket. Pre-K through 6th grade class buckets will be located near Theresa's office.
Penny War starts Monday, April 28th, and the winning class will get a pizza party! Good luck!
*All proceeds will go to the WGS PTO to continue sponsoring WGS events and supporting our teachers and school.
In honor of Earth Day, 6th graders did their part and cleaned trash from all over Ellis. This was only a small portion of the trash they collected! It was a beautiful morning of community service.
The 5th graders had their classroom competition for Famous Figures this morning. Everyone did a fabulous job! The gym competition will be Thursday morning to see who will advance to the Hays competition. Good luck to all the contestants!
To celebrate Earth Day, Mrs. Kauten's fourth grade spent the morning cleaning up the lilac bushes at Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Bristol Honas was the winner of jelly bean contest in Mrs. Kauten's room! Her guess was 737 jelly beans. There were actually 738 jelly beans! Way to go!

The sixth graders finished up their unit over Newton's Laws by building balloon cars! 🚙🎈 The farthest car went 12 feet 7 inches. Amazing 👏🏼👏🏼

We have been enjoying the beautiful weather and the fun outdoors classroom! The students are having so much fun getting to be outside while learning!
After reading a story in our reading series, 3rd grade students researched the structure and habitat of the characters (plants and animals). Students then created their own infographic using Canva.
