JH KAYs is hosting a back to school night for all EJH 7th and 8th grade students on Tuesday, August 22th @ 7:00 at the Ellis campgrounds. Come meet with other JH students, eat smores, and play games to kick off the 2023-2024 school year.

Ellis Railroader Family, Ellis Railroader Family, Every two years, Kansas High Schools that have fewer than 100 students in grades 9-11, are asked to submit to the Kansas State High Activities Association (KSHSAA), a request to participate in either 8-person or 11-person football. As a school that has fewer than 100 students in those 3 grades, we need to submit our request to KSHSAA this fall, which will dictate the style of football we will play for at least the next two years. Many factors are used to aid in this decision, including, but not limited to, the following: • Student enrollment trends • Average number of students participating in football • Travel requirements • Student Safety • Competitiveness • Alignment between middle school and high school • The ability to field both varsity of sub-varsity teams As we work with our board, administration, football staff, and students to determine our best course of action for the next football cycle, we would also like to get some feedback from our community to assist in our decision making. If current fall participants were unable to attend today's NFHS Concussion for Students training required by the KSHSAA, we will be offering another training course at 10:00am on Thursday. Any student who has yet to complete the course and will be unable to make Thursday's training should email dschoenthaler@usd388.com for instructions on how to complete this requirement.

EHS Volleyball Season 2023 starts promptly at 8am tomorrow, Monday, August 14th!! Physical and concussion paperwork must be turned in prior to practice! Parents/player meeting tomorrow afternoon at 5:30 in the HS Auditorium! Jamboree August 22nd @Hays High at 5 pm.

Updated JH Football Practice Schedule!

Ellis Power (High School Football Weigts) wrapped up this morning! And man did we have some great turn out this summer! These boys are hungry for a change and we are working towards that! Seniors- 92% Juniors- 94% Sophomores- 88% Freshmen- 98% Team- 92% Perfect attendance for the summer! And will receive a Ellis Power shirt compliments of Coach Eichman! Juniors- Kamden Keller, JJ Lopeman, Lucas Dinkel, and Gavyn Wildeman Sophomores- Owen Richards, Brendan Seibel, Carson Schartz, and Ben Byers Freshmen- Baylor Born, Colton Metzler, and Dominic Fondoble Did have a few more kids not pictured sorry.

We will be hosting the Concussion for Students course on Tuesday, August 15, at 2:30pm in the auditorium for all fall sport participants. The course will be completed at approximately 3:10pm.

The school doors will be opened on Saturday and Sunday from 3-5pm for anyone needing to drop off or complete requirements for fall activity participation.

Thank you to those who made time to attend the Sports Parent Meeting. Your dedication and support are truly appreciated as we begin a new school year. If you were unable to attend Tuesday's Sports Parent Meeting, please select the link to review the video outlining policies, sportsmanship, and our expectations for this coming school year. There is a QR code that will take you to a brief survey. There are vital pieces of this survey (acknowledgement of risk and statement of understanding) that require completion before a student is allowed to participate in sports practices. This is a new requirement. The QR code may be scanned from this post, or you may scan the code in the EHS/EJH office when paying fees this week. We also have paper copies available in the office for those not using a smart phone. In addition to these requirements, please be reminded that practices begin on Monday, and some of them begin early in the morning. Physicals, head injury release forms, emergency medical information, and the aforementioned acknowledgement of risk and statement of understanding must be submitted and on file. Please do not plan to send these forms with your child to practice on the first day. Not only are there FERPA and HIPPA policies that need to be protected, but your child will also spend their day as an observer rather than a participant. Forms must be turned into the office so that information can be entered and approved in the KSHSAA database for liability purposes. Please get all required documents turned in ASAP.
