Grant Writing 2024
Comp II students will study grant writing again this spring, but we’re going to switch things up a bit:
Students will be selecting their own grant writing projects. Before they select projects, the seniors will spend some time researching our community to determine its needs. I would like to partner students with community members who could teach them about these various aspects:
Businesses – How are we working to attract new businesses and retain current businesses within our communities? Students would be seeking information regarding policies, taxes and regulations in our community that affect business owners. Individuals willing to speak on this topic who are current business owners or economic development officers would be beneficial.
Youth Engagement – What are we doing to engage the youth in our community? If you or your organization is trying to address this, we would love to hear about it!
Beautification – Do we have plans to improve/restore/ beautify our downtown or neighborhoods?
Seniors Citizens – What programs are in place to assist our senior citizens? Businesses or programs?
New Residents –Do we have plans or programs in place/in development to attract new residents?
Student groups will meet with community experts and report back to the class on these issues. Once we feel we understand our community better, students will choose projects and write grants that address our specific needs. Some of the projects may come as suggestions from our community members/experts.
Please email Mrs. Downing at sdowning@usd388.com if you think you can help with any of these topics!
