Reminder: HS and JH girls weights will be doing water aerobics on Wednesday, June 26th at 8:15am at the Ellis Pool. Please drop off and pickup there, NOT at the weight room or high school. High School Boys Basketball Hays Summer League games for this evening are cancelled.

Exciting news on our grant applications! The guitar class will be able to purchase new guitars and supplies thanks to the grant written by Kaydawn Haag, Emily Whyte and Layton Martinson! Previously, Mrs. Shupe has purchased many of the supplies for this class with her own money! Thank you, Mrs. Shupe, for your dedication to EHS students! Big thank you to the Heartland Community Foundation for funding our grant application! There is tough competition in Ellis County. While this is the only student application from EHS that was funded, you can still donate to many of those projects through the Community Foundation of Ellis. The foundation will receive matching dollars from the Patterson Family Foundation through the month of June for the Shelter at Creekside, Tennis Court Renovations and the Concrete Fitness Trail at St. Mary’s. So make sure you donate to the Community Foundation of Ellis by the end of the month! Great job, seniors, on your grant applications!

The EHS Football team would personally like to thank the Ellis River Fest Committee for allowing us to work the dunk booth this year! We brought in over $300 to the Football fund! thanks again Coach Eichman

KSHSAA Executive Board Approves Several Postseason Changes TOPEKA, Kan. – Changes to postseason formats and championship sites for basketball, football, wrestling and track and field highlight actions approved at the June 12-13 KSHSAA Executive Board Meeting. The postseason formats are set by the KSHSAA Executive Board each year. Basketball - Beginning in March of 2026, the state basketball tournaments will be moving to four total sites. Four facilities will play host to the seven classifications, 14 championships. By honoringe the KSHSAA membership voted in the fall of 2023 to qualify eight boys teams and eight girls teams involved at the final site, modifications to the daily schedule will be developed. The schedule and other event details, including classification designations for each site and venue selection will be determined and announced following the 2024-25 basketball season. Another basketball postseason change effective with the 2024-25 season will come at the 3A, 2A, 1A DI and 1A DII classifications. Each class will be divided into four regions and then seeded into two sub-states within the region: Substate A: 1, 4, 5, 8, 9, 12, 13, 16; Substate B: 2, 3, 6, 7, 10, 11, 14, 15. The winner of each substate will advance to the state basketball tournament. Further format details and dates will be sent to member schools. Football - As announced in January, the state football championships will be moving to three sites with three games being played at each site. The executive board approved the following sites and schedule for 2024: Emporia State University: Class 6A = Friday, November 29 at 2:00pm Class 4A = Saturday, November 30 at 1:00pm Class 5A = Saturday, November 30 at 7:00pm Hutchinson Community College: Class 2A = Friday, November 29 at 6:00pm Class 3A = Saturday, November 30 at 12:00pm Class 1A = Saturday, November 30 at 5:00pm Kiowa County High School, Greensburg: Class 8-player DII = Saturday, November 30 at 11:00am Class 6-Player = Saturday, November 30 at 3:00pm Class 8-Player DI = Saturday, November 30 at 7:00pm Wrestling – Girl’s wrestling will now include four classes to mirror the boy’s classification designations. The addition of another class for girl’s wrestling necessitates the addition of another championship site. 6A, 5A, 4A and 3-1A will each have their own site to determine a champion. 3-1A state wrestling will be in Hays and 4A will be in Salina. Park City Arena and one other facility to be named later will house either 6A or 5A. State sites and regional dates will be determined at the September KSHSAA Executive Board meeting. The state wrestling tournament will take place February 28 - March 1, 2025. Track and Field – Qualification for the state meet was adjusted to now be the top 3 plus the next four best regional performance in each event. Two committees will be formed to gather input from membership school leaders. One to discuss the details behind the implementation of Esports prior to the possible adoption as a KSHSAA sanctioned activity. The second committee will review the KSHSAA calendar to consider possible alternatives to dates of postseason activities. Volleyball Camp for grades 3rd-8th grades starts today!! (June 12th-14th) 3rd-5th grades 9:15-10:30 6th-8th grades 10:30-12:00 Due to construction at the High School, please enter through the gym doors on the south side of the HS.

There was a pair of black nike kneepads left at the high school gym. We have talked to some of the girls but no one has claimed them! I know these are most likely needed for the summer and season, so if they are yours get in touch with Coach Werth.

Easton Burton and Zeke Haag, Class of 2022 and current EHS coaches, were selected to officiate the 8-man All-Star games today in Beloit.

Lady Railer Softball held their awards ceremony last night at the VFW hall. We had a homemade ice cream sundae bar, curtesy of DJ Fischer, Jessica Fabrizius and Becky Seibel. It was a fun night, with laughs, great ice cream and awards. Rookie of the year, Jersee Fabrizius. Come back players , Emily James. Steady Eddy award, Braelyn Born. 2 Most improved player of the year Jennifer Cunningham and Brooke Starns. Back on track award, Taylor Seibel. All Star award, Alyssa Rome. MVP Award, Kaydawn Haag. 400 batting club: Taylor Seibel .468 and Alyssa Rome .435 500 batting club, Kaydawn Haag .557 No season record broke this year. Career records broke: offense Kaydawn Haag batting average .538, 126 hits, doubles 39, 117 RBI'S and 160 runs scored. Kaydawn also broke wins pitching record, now at 35 wins, and also most strikeouts at 289 K's. Congratulations to all. If you have not started your offseason workouts, you are two weeks behind. Championships are earned in the offseason!!!!!!

Railer Softball will be holding awards night and homemade ice cream Thursday night the 6th at 7 pm in the VFW hall.

Ellis Lady Railer Volleyball started summer league matches today. Team Orange (sorry I forgot to take pictures) went 2-0, team Black went 2-0, and team Railers went 1-1. Great start to summer league ladies!! 🧡🏐🖤

Railer Family, We regrettably will be unable to host the Spring Sports Awards/Recognition Night in its originally scheduled format due to several scheduling conflicts and the current construction at EHS. Each of our programs will be hosting a recognition event at a date and time that is conducive to as many staff and team members as possible. We know that summer schedules and plans have been set, and we will work to accommodate the best we can, understanding that it's not likely to work for everyone. There is much to celebrate, and we look forward to the opportunities to share the many success stories and accomplishments of our student-athletes and programs. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Reminder that HS volleyball skills start tomorrow, May 30th, at the HS gym at 7 am. Please remember to come through the back doors (south side) of the gym as construction has started in the office/commons area. Hopefully summer league volleyball schedules are done as well. 🧡🏐🖤
