GRADUATION CAP AND GOWN PACKAGES were distributed on Monday (March 2, 2026) to all seniors. Instructions were included and are also listed below:
• Take the cap and gown package home immediately and hang it up.
• Do not wash – follow the instructions on the tag.
• Do not iron – follow the instructions on the tag.
• Usually, if they are hung up for several weeks, the wrinkles will come out. Sometimes fluffing in the dryer on low for just a few minutes can help. Steam also helps, but please avoid touching the gown directly.
• Graduates will only be issued one cap, tassel, gown, and white stole. The school will not order again.
• Ensure the gown fits properly. If it doesn't, notify Maria in the office immediately at 785-726-3151 or mmick@usd388.com. We have a limited time for exchanges.
Graduation is scheduled for Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. It will be held in the Ellis Jr./Sr. High School Gymnasium.

Students from Ellis High School attended the Kansas HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) Spring Leadership Conference at Wichita State University on Monday, March 2. They had the opportunity to participate in competitive events, learn new skills, and connect with representatives from colleges and healthcare. This was another wonderful opportunity for our Railroaders! A special thank you to our HOSA sponsor, Kathryn Amrein, MSN, RN, from the Fort Hays State University Department of Nursing.
Tayler Schmidt was selected to participate in the KMEA (Kansas Music Educators Association) 1-2A Honor Band, where she held the position of first chair bass clarinet. They performed at the KMEA In-Service Workshop at Century II in Wichita this past weekend. It was an honor for Tayler to represent Ellis High School at this prestigious event. Railer Wrestling wrapped up their season, competing at the 321A State Tournament. All 5 Railers found wins on Day 1, punching their ticket to Day 2, finishing Top 12 in the State of Kansas.
A big congratulations goes to Senior Kia Mader who earned her way to the podium with a 4th place finish. Kia is the only senior between both teams. She will be missed. Thank you for 4 years of hard work and dedication.
The wrestlers are already planning for the post-season work, competing at USA Kids Wrestling events, summer camps, and other workouts. They are a hardworking, dedicated group.
End-of-season banquet will be held Monday, March 23. Wrestlers will be celebrated at the meal and awards ceremony.

The Ellis Junior High Band had a fantastic day at the MCEL Music Festival hosted by TMP! They represented Ellis schools and the community exceptionally well, receiving top ratings for all their performances.
The Ellis Junior High Brass Trio, consisting of Myles Vine, Eli Wagner, and Jon Luea, earned a rating of 1.
The Ellis Junior High Woodwind Choir, made up of Katie Hines, Izzy Fondoble, Brie Keller, Maverick Swagerty, Lula McCaffery, and Kyle Yates, also received a rating of 1.
Brie Keller was the only soloist and received an impressive rating of 1+ for her saxophone solo.
The Ellis Junior High Brass and Percussion Ensemble, which included Myles Vine, Eli Wagner, Andrew Corbett, Jaxon Henman, Jon Luea, Chase Aschenbrenner, Luke James, Caleb Schield, and Gabe Ball, received a rating of 1 as well.
Additionally, the Ellis Junior High Woodwind Trio, comprised of Katie Hines, Izzy Fondoble, and Brie Keller, also received a rating of 1.
