First Call for Help is excited to sponsor the 2026-27 Backpacks for Kids program! This program is available to all students residing in Ellis County. If you or someone you know needs assistance with school supplies, please reach out for help!
Online registration is available at https://www.firstcallelliscounty.com/backpacks. Registration is currently open and will remain available until July 28, 2026. The distribution of supplies will take place on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at the Hays Recreation Commission (Leisure Center) from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

The Ellis Track and Field traveled to Smith Center to compete in the MCL track meet. The girls came home with a fourth-place finish on the day. Placing 1st was Avery Boydston in the 3200 and Evelyn Merriman in the 200 M. Placing 2nd was Avery Boydston in the 800 M and 1600 M. Placing 3rd was Evelyn Merriam in the 100 M, Sienna Schmidt in the LJ, and Tracyn Bollig in the PV. Placing 4th in the Javelin was Haylee Comer. Placing 5th was Sienna Schmidt in the TJ, Taryn Boydston in the 1600 M, the boys' 4 x 800 of Brayden Cox, Cayston Boydston, Talon Pyle, and Wyatt Dixson, and the girls' 4 x 100 of Payten Burd, Merriam, Schmidt, and Mackinley Rhoden. Evelyn Merriam placed 6th in the LJ. It was a strong day of competition as the team prepares for Regional action next Thursday in Tribune. Go Railers!


MCL Golf at Fort Hays today. Team placed 9th with a great score of 362. Jaren Frickey shot 82 and made 2nd Team MCL! Great job Railers KEEP GRINDING!

Regional Softball Bracket - The Lady Railers will host the Ness City-Trego Eagles in the regional quarterfinals on Tuesday, May 19, at 5:00 pm.

Updated Regional Baseball Bracket - After their 10-0 victory over Nickerson last night, the Railers will match up with Holcomb in the regional semifinals on Tuesday, May 19. The game will be hosted at Russell, with play beginning at 2:00 pm.

Railroader Track & Field is competing in the MCL Tournament today, hosted by Smith Center High School. Field events will begin at 3:00 PM, followed by running events at 4:30 PM. Regional Baseball begins this week, and the Ellis Railroaders will host a first-round game tonight against the Nickerson Panthers! The game starts at 5:00 PM at the Ellis Baseball Field (located at the Fairgrounds, 801 Cottonwood Street). Admission prices are $8 for adults and $6 for students in grades K-12. Gates will be open on the north and west sides of the facility.
