At the back to school inservice days, the USD 388 staff went out in the Ellis community to show THEIR support for everything our businesses do for our schools. The staff visited 26 businesses with more to visit at the October inservice. One of our goals this year is to "Build and maintain strong relationships with students, parents, families, the community, and businesses seeking ways to promote and benefit the educational community of Ellis". There were many smiles and a great appreciation for each other! Thank you Ellis!

The BOE will hold a special board meeting on Monday, August 28 @ 6:30pm in the District Office about the football classification. Board members are individually reviewing the data gathered in the survey prior to the meeting as well as enrollment trends and information provided by current JH and HS football players. Thank you to those who completed the survey that closed on Friday. Your input is a valuable piece to making the best decision for the students of Ellis.

Just a reminder that senior banner pictures are being taken today until 12! All seniors in any activity and sport can get a banner made of them to be hung in the gym.

A huge shout out to the Ellis Baptist church for giving of their time to make our school parking lots fresh and new on the hottest day of the summer!

Ellis Railroader Family, Ellis Railroader Family,
Every two years, Kansas High Schools that have fewer than 100 students in grades 9-11, are asked to submit to the Kansas State High Activities Association (KSHSAA), a request to participate in either 8-person or 11-person football. As a school that has fewer than 100 students in those 3 grades, we need to submit our request to KSHSAA this fall, which will dictate the style of football we will play for at least the next two years. Many factors are used to aid in this decision, including, but not limited to, the following:
• Student enrollment trends
• Average number of students participating in football
• Travel requirements
• Student Safety
• Competitiveness
• Alignment between middle school and high school
• The ability to field both varsity of sub-varsity teams
As we work with our board, administration, football staff, and students to determine our best course of action for the next football cycle, we would also like to get some feedback from our community to assist in our decision making. As such, we have developed a brief survey to collect your thoughts about this decision. If you would like to share your thoughts about this decision, please click on the link below to complete this survey. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/V3DV72F
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions and thank your for your support of our great district.
Respectfully,
Janice Wilson
Superintendent of Schools
