Washington Grade School

5th grade students Emma Wichert (Dottie Schroeder) and Kenzie Flinn (Ethel Catherwood) did an amazing job of representing WGS at the Ellis County Famous Figures competition in Hays this morning! Emma is coming home with a second place trophy!

Proud of our 5th graders for completing D.A.R.E.! Their commitment to making safe, responsible choices shows strength, courage, and leadership. Congratulations on this important milestone!

⭐️ Way to go, 5th graders! ⭐️

WGS is thrilled to recognize our students that placed in this year's Hays Arts Council Creative Writing Contest! An awards ceremony and reception to celebrate these students will be held on Sunday, April 26th at 1:00 p.m. in the FHSU Memorial Union Ballroom.

The 5th graders showcased their Famous Figures presentations today for their classmates and judges to enjoy. We have some talented students!

🌏Happy Earth Day from WGS!🌏 To celebrate the 56th Earth Day, WGS 4th-6th graders participated in a community clean-up. Each group picked up litter from their assigned area of town. Students had a fun time cleaning their community and caring for the planet. They found a wide variety of interesting items along the way like socks, pants, golf balls, and much more! It was a great day to be a Railer in supporting a cleaner community!

Our sixth graders applied Newton’s Three Laws of Motion by designing and building balloon-powered cars! 🚗🎈 They explored forces, motion, and teamwork while testing and improving their designs in this fun, hands-on STEM activity.
