Ellis Jr. High girls basketball started their season on Nov. 2nd by hosting the Hill City Ringnecks. In the varsity game, Ellis maintained the lead by three at the half. Hill City came out in the third quarter ready to play and the two teams were tied going into the fourth quarter at nine. Hill City was able to keep Ellis scoreless in the 4th quarter while the Ringnecks burned the nets adding 10 points in the quarter for a final score of Hill City 19 to Ellis 9.

Leading scorer for Ellis was Payten Burd with six points, Avery Boydston had two and Raegan Jiminez chipped in a free-throw for one point. Leading rebounder for Ellis was Gracelynn Hamel with 10 boards. Leah Reed had six rebounds, Boydston had four, Jiminez had two and Burd and Kia Mader each had one.

In the J.V. contest, the game was limited to two quarters due to the lack of players for Hill City. Hill City came out on top in the end beating Ellis by three points with a final score of Hill City eight to Ellis five.

The only player to score for Ellis was Jersee Fabrizius with five points. Leading rebounders for Ellis was a tie with four each for Piper McClung and Sienna Schmidt. Fabrizius and Taylor Kohl each had three boards, Tayler Schmidt had two and Maggie Fitzgerald had one rebound. 

The team then traveled to Plainville on Nov. 4th to play the Cardinals. In the varsity contest, the first quarter was tight with a one point difference, with Plainville on top. In the second quarter, Ellis was only able to add an additional three points while Plainville added nine to the score going into the half with Plainville in the lead 15 to Ellis at eight. Ellis wasn’t able to improve their shooting only able to come up with a total of 12 points for the game compared with Plainville’s 27 points. Final score was Plainville 27 to Ellis 12.

Leading scorers for Ellis was Avery Boydston and Gracelynn Hamel each with three, Payten Burd and Leah Reed each had two points and Raegan Jiminez and Jocelyn Eck each had one point. Leading rebounder for Ellis was Hamel with 9 boards, Reed had six, Boydston and Jiminez each had three ahd Burd had one.

In the J.V. contest Ellis was ahead at the half 14 to Plainville five. Plainville only allowed Ellis three points in the second half while adding 11 points of their own. Ellis squeaked by with a win with the final score Ellis 17 to Plainville 16.

Leading scorer for Ellis was Sienna Schmidt with 10 points. Taylor Kohl had four and Jersee Fabrizius had three. Leading rebounder for Ellis was Kohl with five boards and Fabrizius had two.
