Ellis Junior High Girls B-Team Tournament
The Ellis Jr. High Junior Varsity girls basketball team traveled to the JV tournament in Phillipsburg on Dec. 11th. In the first contest Ellis played Hoxie. Ellis struggled with scoring throughout the game and was only able to score four points compared to Hoxie’s 36. Final score was Hoxie 36 to Ellis four.
Sienna Schmidt and Jersee Fabrizius were the only players to score with two points each. Leading rebounder for Ellis was Kia Mader with six. Taylor Kohl and Schmidt each had three boards, Fabrizius had two and Piper McClung and Tayler Schmidt each had one.
Ellis went on to play for 3rd place against the host of the tournament – Phillipsburg. Ellis led throughout the game going into the half with 10 points to Phillipsburg’s five. Ellis added another 10 points in the second half. Final score was Ellis 20 to Phillipsburg 14 with Ellis taking third place in the tournament.
Leading scorer for Ellis was Kia Mader with six points. Piper McClung, Sienna Schmidt and Jersee Fabrizius each had four points and Taylor Kohl had two. Leading rebounders for Ellis was Mader and Kohl each with 11 boards. McClung had five, Schmidt and Fabrizius each had two and Maggie Fitzgerald had one rebound.
