Alice Berens

USD 388 is pleased to announce that Ellis Junior High School teacher Alice Berens has been recognized as the 2023 Ellis Teacher of the Year.  Mrs. Berens received the award on Wednesday, October 6th.  The Kansas Teacher of the Year program identifies, recognizes, and utilizes representatives of excellent teaching in the elementary and secondary classrooms.  Its mission is to build and utilize a network of exemplary teachers who are leaders in the improvement of schools, student performance, and the teaching profession.  Any district employee can nominate a classroom teacher.  To be considered for the award, the nominee must submit a completed question form. The selection committee (consisting of 3 educators, 3 administrators, and 2 board members) selects the Teacher of the Year.  Mrs. Berens will receive $100 to go toward classroom supplies/equipment and $50 for personal use.  The other nominees were Amy Kuppetz, Kelsie McMillan, Sandy Shupe, and David Wildeman.  Congratulations to Alice and the other four nominees.  USD 388 is fortunate to have them.
