Basketball

The EJH girls basketball team traveled to Grinnell on Nov. 14th and came away with two wins for both the J.V. and varsity contests in spite of having two players ill and not traveling with the team for this trip, bringing the number available to play to seven girls.

In the varsity contest, Ellis held Grinnell scoreless in the first half with a score of Ellis 10 to Grinnell 0.  Ellis went on to score eight points in the second half bringing in the win Ellis 18 to Grinnell 10.  Leading scorer for Ellis was Taryn Boydston with eight points followed by Haylee Comer with four.  Maggie Downing, Mackinley Rhoden and Rylan Aschenbrenner each had two points. 

Leading rebounder for Ellis was Comer with 11 boards.  Downing had six rebounds followed by Boydston with five.  Rhoden and Aschenbrenner each had four.

In the two quarters of the J.V. game, Ellis won the contest 10-2.  Leading scorer for Ellis was Boydston with six points.  Downing had four.  Leading rebounder for Ellis in the J.V. contest was Rhoden with six boards.  Downing, Boydston and Maddison Rummel each had one rebound.

 

The Ellis Jr. High girls basketball team traveled for the second time out to Hoxie on Nov. 16th.   Hoxie came out on top for both the J.V. and varsity games with the J.V. game ending up a one point win with a score of Hoxie 11 to Ellis 10 while Hoxie took care of business with the varsity contest winning 39 to 9.

Leading scorer for the Ellis varsity contest was Rylan Aschenbrenner with four points.  Haylee Comer and Mackinley Rhoden each had two and Taryn Boydston had one point.  Leading rebounder for Ellis varsity was Comer with six followed by Lila Richards with five.  Maggie Downing, Rhoden and Boydston each had four boards and Aschenbrenner had two.

In the two quarters played for J.V., leading scorer was shared by Richards and Maddison Rummel who each had three points.  Aschenbrenner and Boydston each had two points.  Leading rebounder for Ellis J.V. was Richards with four boards, Rhoden had three, Downing had two and Rummel had one.
