The Ellis Jr. High girls basketball team traveled to Stockton to take the Tigers to task.  The Railer girls won the contest by scoring 31 points and keeping the Tigers to 2.  The Railer girls held Stockton scoreless in the first quarter, allowed one basket for two in the second where the Tigers stayed throughout the game.

Leading scorer for Ellis was Jocelyn Eck with 10 points followed by Jersee Fabrizius with eight.  Libby Schiel had four, Rylan Aschenbrenner had three and Evelyn Merriman, Taylor Kohl and Piper McClung each had two.   Leading rebounder for Ellis was Schiel with 11, Merriman had eight, Eck and Kohl each had five boards and Febrizius and Aschenbrenner each contributed two.

In the JV game, the Ellis girls came out on top as well.  Ellis’ final score was 18 and they kept the Stockton JV also to just two points.

Leading scorers for Ellis was McClung and MacKinley Rhoden each with six points.  Maggie Fitzgerald, Aschenbrenner and Lyla Richards each contributed two.  Leading rebounder for Ellis JV was McClung with five with Fitzgerald and Schiel each with four, Merriman had three, Rhoden with two and Aschenbrenner and Dora Bencze each had one board.

Coach Sheryl Butler commented on the game, “This was a fun night for the girls and one to feel good about.  Our defense was very strong tonight.”

The Ellis Jr. High Junior Varsity girls basketball hosted Hoxie on Nov.17th. 

In the varsity contest, Hoxie dominated from the beginning, leading at the half 18 to three.  Hoxie continued to build on their lead while Ellis continued to struggle.  Final score was 34 to 5 with Hoxie winning the contest.

Scorer’s for Ellis was Taylor Kohl with three and Jocelyn Eck and Jersee Febrizius each with one point.  Leading rebounder for Ellis was Kohl with six followed by Eck with five.  Libby Schiel contributed four boards and Rylan Aschenbrenner, Fabrizius and Evelyn Merriman each had two.

The J.V. contest was a much closer game.  Hoxie led Ellis at the half eight to six.  Hoxie pulled away some in the second half beating Ellis 19 to 13.

Leading scorer for Ellis JV was Piper McClung with nine points.  MacKinley Rhoden and Lyla Richards each had two. Leading rebounders for Ellis was Maggie Fitzgerald and Aschenbrenner each having four boards, followed by Richards and McClung with three.  Merriman and Bencze each had two.
