All,

Thank you for your continued support of our students, staff, and schools. As many of you may know, Ellis USD 388 has experienced and worked through significant challenges in recent years due to declining enrollment. This, in turn, has had a negative impact on our school finances based on the way schools are funded through our Kansas Legislature.  Through staff attrition in recent years, we have been able to absorb some of these financial losses. However, as our decline in enrollment continues, we are at a point where we are having to consider more budget saving measures.

Recently, our Board of Education conducted a meeting with staff members to solicit feedback regarding areas in which we might be able to make cuts.  In the next few weeks, we will be reviewing that feedback and considering all options to ensure we are on solid financial footing.

While some of these decisions will not be easy, please know our goal is to ensure we are providing the best possible learning environment for all of our students and staff.   Our goal is to select budget saving options that have the least negative impact.

Ellis is a great community and a great school district. While we do face some challenges, we are excited about the future for our students and staff!

Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out. Thank you to all of you for playing such an important role in the success of our students.
